What is a DPF?

A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a device fitted to the exhaust system of all modern diesel vehicles. Its job is to trap harmful soot and particulate matter to reduce emissions and protect the environment.



 Over time, this filter becomes full and needs to clean itself through a process called regeneration, where it burns off the trapped soot . However, if you mainly do short journeys, drive slowly or idle frequently, the filter cannot get hot enough to clean itself, leading to blockages .

Signs Your DPF Needs Cleaning

Don’t ignore the warning signs! If you notice any of these, your filter is likely blocked and needs attention:
